In early September， the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB)， Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Tongling nature Reserve performed a seasonal routine inspection in Anhui Tongling for finless porpoises。 A total of six people in two fishing boats participated the four days inspection to observe the river between Anhui Datong and Meizhouwei and the nearby waters for finless porpoise activity。 During the inspection， a total of 27 of the finless porpoises were spotted。
On August 19th， 2007， Zeng Yujiang and other two people， the citizen of Anhui Tongling， had used digital cameras to video the process that the aquatic animals out of water in distance， 156 seconds long， this video was identified by the professionals that the animal is most likely is a baiji。 While the routine inspection covered the same exact waters， they did not observe any baiji in the water。 Tongling Yangtze River is a important area where finless porpoises live， and relevant scientific exploration activities will be on going。
