From November 6th to 8th 2007。 This Symposium was co-sponsored by the Institute of hydrobiology, The Institute of Marine Research of the Tokyo University andthe Institute of Japan‘s National Marine Fisheries Engineering Research。 Biologging Science Society of Japanprovidedfunding support for this event。
The focus of the symposium was on methods of tracking on terrestrial and aquatic animals, including marking, remote sensing, and monitoring as well as recovery and data analysis。 Representatives from the Chinese Academy of Aquatic Sciences, Chinese Academy of Animal Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Yangtze River Fisheries Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences Wuxi Freshwater Fisheries Research Center, South China Normal University, Shandong University at Weihai, Liaoning Province CAFS, the Nature Conservancy, the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, Hokkaido University, and other institutions participated in this event, a total of 29 official participants, 13 from Japan。
Between the 6th and 7th of November, 22 representatives gave presentations on their research, four of which were specially invited to discuss their findings。 Dr。 Wang Ding gave one of the special presentations at the meeting。 In addition, Wang Kexiong, Li Songhai, and Dong Shouyue gave a report on the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Yangtze finless porpoise recent successes and latest research progress respectively。 All attendees who wrote an academic report received 600 Yuan (100,000 yen) of funding。
